Nodes 2

As most of you have probably already noticed, Nodes 2 was released fairly recently. I did the graphics for this one, as well as all the music in the game and that really annoying “bing” sound 🙂

Nodes 2 can be viewed here.

And its mochibot stats can be viewed here.

New Cartoons!!!

With the arrival of madness day, I decided that I’d make something for it. Using really really old madness animations, I binded together “Kai assault 2”, which is sorta the sequel to something i made ages ago. Kai assault can be viewed here.

I have also been busy at work trying to finish up a PDM project that i’ve been working on at school. Once its been converted into video format, it shall be entered into various student film festivals in Sydney. I haven’t come up with a name yet. “it” can be viewed here.

Games Update No.2

•September 9, 2007 • Leave a Comment

With nodes really becoming history only recently, me and eggy decided that we should start working on a sequel to the game. Last Thursday night I spent a while playing around flash, and came up with this:

This isn’t exactly what nodes 2 will end up looking like, but it will look like something similar.

Another game I have been busy at work with is the MMORPG. As graphics go I’ve managed to create heaps of in game terrain and indoor areas as well as items, equipment and a character selection thing. Coding wise, we’ve managed to make a complete in game chat system, inventory, moving + collision and a simple RPG battle engine.

The third and final game I’ve been working on recently is that of a themed checkers game. The game will include about 10 different themed checker boards, with single player and online multiplayer modes as well as extra features including an in game shop and collectible items.

Nodes hits 2 Million Views, Smithys Quest 2 cancelled

•July 10, 2007 • 2 Comments

A couple of weeks ago eggy and myself decided that we would stop any further production on smithys quest 2 as we found that it we didn’t really want to make a sequal. Instead me and eggy have decided to put our main efforts into producing a sequal to the ever popular “Nodes” game, which reached 2,000,000 views on July 6th.

Instead of doing the graphics for smithys quest 2, I have teamed up with 2 other coders to produce what will look very much like a flash MMORPG. So far we have designed a fully playable chat area, with player movement and an inventory. I have drawn a large portion of the grassland area featured in the game, which includes 2 major towns.

Screenies:

To advertize this, we are designing a smaller prison escape game in the style of the MMO. Although the character in the screenshot looks like Smithy, he will be changed before the game is released.

This didn’t take alot of time to make, and the finished game isn’t actually that bad. This is the first original peice i’ve done, which is change. We got daily first for it too, which is also a pretty damn good change.

Games Update No.1

The first game I’d like to show stuff from is that of Smithys Quest 2. I’ve drawn up a base map of the game, as well as the RPG battle engine version of smithy and some enemies. I’m guessing that the map in Smithys 2 will be atleast 20 times the size of the map in Smithy 1.

Another game I’ve been working on quite a bit latley is a defence/action styled game that involves you trying to protect your castle whilst fighting off an on going horde of orcs. The enemy also has a castle which you have to take down if you can. You will have three main screens to move through (your castle, bridge, enemies castle). The aim of the game is to hold off the enemy advancements until your reinforcements come. You also have to protect your castle at all costs.

Screeny (bridge screen):

A small project I’ve been doing the graphics for is the game “Nodes”. The aim of this game is to defuse a bomb by using the nodes to activate all the little ball things. Once the timer reaches 00:00, the bomb blows up and you effectivley lose the game. I’m doing this one with Eggy, the same guy I did Smithys Quest with. When its done it should look something like this:nodes.png

The last game I feel like showing screenies of is “Skermia Online”. This game involves you building up your army and fighting other peoples armies online. To do this, you have to gain various things such as Mines and Chests to get “MPD” (Money Per Day). The battle system isn’t live, and were still trying to figure out a way of adding in a game type thing for the battle part.

Smithys Quest

•June 15, 2007 • 3 Comments

This game took a while to finish, and I found that drawing up the graphics for RPG games can be pretty damn hard. Most of the dioluge in this game was done by Eggy, the creator of all the Draw Play games. He did the coding for the game as well.

smithiesquest.png

Although the game does look mostly like your average RPG, it lacks that battle system that pretty much all good RPGs have. I guess because of this, the game is no where near as fun as it could be. When we eventually start making Smithies Quest 2, we will definatley spend a good while developing a good and slightly original battle engine. Smithys Quest can be played here.

Prison Throw.

•June 15, 2007 • 6 Comments

I’d always wanted to make a throwing type game in the style of Kitty Kannon and PinguThrow, and so I decided that I’d team up with a coder to make one. The aim of this game is to throw your little prison escapee as far as you possibly can whilst avioding certain obstacles. Spacebar is pretty much the only button you need to press whilst playing the game.

It took about 3 months of working and organization to produce this game, and I’m quite happy with the result. The graphics were fun to make and the game came along quite nicely. Prison Throw can be played here.

QuibeLand Evolution.

After creating a scrolling platform engine with a friend of mine, I decided that I should turn it into a sequal for Quibeland 2. Although this game has about 5 bosses and alot more levels then the previous Quibeland I can’t say that i liked it more. The quality of the game is pretty average and it took alot of effort to make. Quibeland 2 can be viewed here.

This was the first game I had completed under the name of Shibby. It was also the first peice I’d coded and animated by myself. Quibeland can be viewed here.
